We thought many of you would find these topics very helpful, when considering KidcooverPrep. Please feel free to message us directly with any additional questions. We look forward to supporting you!
Are you an agency?
No. It is important that you understand that we are not an employment agency – but rather a career services company. To comply with Canadian law and policy, we do not work with foreign agencies (or any agencies) that collect placement fees from applicants. Any payment that you make to KidcooverPrep is not a placement fee – but covers the cost of all of your application materials and job-related services (example: resume, profile, cover letters, interview coaching, job submission, and optional processing). The career services that we provide are specific to you, not specific to a job. You are our client and we work for you. It then becomes your choice as to whether you want to apply to direct hire jobs (we recommend it) or agency jobs (we recommend using only licensed Canadian agencies). We also offer an application submission service for caregivers – as we know that getting access to WiFi and computers can be a challenge in applying to jobs. You have the final say in terms of what you apply for and you can discontinue this at any time. This is your application and we are the career service provider, not your agent.
We are a real, registered company. KidcooverPrep is a proudly-Canadian-owned and operated corporation, incorporated in BC (BC1105210) and licensed (Business Licence #17-188005) here in Vancouver. Our offices are also here. Our services have a global reach, as they are online in nature. This allows us to provide high quality services at low prices. You may request to view a copy of our license and company registrations at any time. You may also conduct a search for us on the BC Corporate Registry. Not partnering with any foreign agencies means that we can stay true to our core principle: serving caregivers everywhere without political pressure. Consider these two questions: (1) Do you have any nanny/senior-care experience or work in a relevant field? (2) Are you a high school graduate? If you have less than 12 years of school, most employers would like to see some paid work experience in this area to make up the difference. If you meet these criteria, please consider applying to our Be Your Best Program: https://kidcooverprep.com//wpo/be-your-best/
Can the Kidcoover agency get me a job?
Kidcoover (agency) operates separate from KidcooverPrep and is hired by families in Canada to identify applicants suitable for their caregiver positions. These caregivers are reviewed on the strength of their qualifications and their application packages. Any caregiver can apply to a position listed at Kidcoover (agency) and all applicants are equally considered.
How does KidcooverPrep help me to get hired?
Our team works with you to create everything you need for a strong application package. Our job is to ensure that you present the best application possible for each job you are interested in. Don’t apply for another job without us.
Do I really need help to get hired directly?
Well, we certainly think so. The competition is particularly fierce now. Families receive over 100 applications, on average, for a single caregiver position. You must make yourself stand out. Having a professionally-prepared set of application materials and a team of experts is strongly recommended.
How long will KidcooverPrep support me?
Forever. Once you’re with us, you’re with us. We work tirelessly to help you get hired.
Do I need to pay KidcooverPrep every year?
Absolutely not. With the exception of the job submission services (limited to 1 year), your one-time payment covers our expenses and efforts. Our purpose is to focus on you. That’s it.
What happens if I pay an agency for a job placement?
This is strongly discouraged. The Canadian government and other governments have taken a strong position against applications, where it appears that an applicant has paid for a job. Again, this is strongly discouraged.
Will the training certify me to apply under Canada’s Caregiver Program?
No. This training program has been designed by Kidcoover and KidcooverPrep to address a concern of sponsoring families. Many families of the Kidcoover agency have specifically requested that we do more to train caregivers before they arrive in Canada. The qualifications for the Caregiver Program are set by Immigration Canada. If you satisfy those criteria, your biggest hurdle becomes convincing the families that you understand what it means to be a caregiver in Canada. That’s where we come in.
What is the benefit of the training?
Completing the online training or attending one of our workshops demonstrates to families that you understand the needs of Canadian families and can overcome the cultural differences to begin work immediately. If you have never supported a Western Family, this is critical. You will also receive a letter of reference and a Certificate of Completion to include in your application package. KidcooverPrep has partnered with Kidcoover in the design and development of this training. Kidcoover remains Vancouver’s leading in-home, childcare company.
