“If you do the work behind the scenes to get professional & experienced help, getting hired is the easy part.”

If you would like to work in Canada as a caregiver, there are two pathways: (1) you can contact a legitimate agency for their available jobs or (2) apply to the employer via Job Bank Canada. Most caregivers believe that they must use an agency to get hired – and we will explain below why this may not be the best approach for you. However, most caregivers overlook the single most important component of getting noticed by an employer: a professionally-written resume that highlights your skills and your experience. In Canada, the key to getting hired is being able to effectively communicate your assets in a way that connects with your employer.
APPLY TO JOBBANK CANADA LISTINGS AND CANADIAN AGENCY LISTINGS.
Don’t get scammed or rejected by Immigration Canada: only use a licensed Canadian Agency. This is extremely important. Canadian law prohibits Canadian agencies from collecting a placement fee from job applicants. If a Canadian agency is asking you to pay a fee to get a job, this is an illegal operation. Canadian agencies are under a high level of review by the government and always your safest bet. Please note that Canada cannot control or regulate the actions of foreign (non-Canadian) agencies. However, Service Canada will reject the LMIA – sponsorship application of any employer of an applicant (that’s you) that has paid a fee to an agency for their job. Do not ruin your chances by using a non-Canadian agency. You are permitted to pay for professional assistance with your application documents, application strategy and improve your overall chances of getting hired (example: KidcooverPrep). KidcooverPrep is a licensed and regulated Canadian company and only works with licensed Canadian agencies.
DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF TO AN AGENCY – MOST EMPLOYERS DON’T USE AGENCIES.
The truth is that most Canadian employers will not work with an agency. Here’s why: the cost of sponsoring you is already very high. Canadian families must pay $1000 to be approved as your sponsor and they are also responsible for all of your travel expenses to Canada. Only a limited number of Canadian families will take on the additional cost of paying an agency to find you. Employers would much rather respond to those applicants applying directly to their Job Bank listings – because they don’t pay an agency fee. So, for a higher success rate, it’s important that you also apply to the employer directly.
HAVE A GREAT RESUME.
Making the right impression is everything. Without a professional and well-written Canadian-style resume, you won’t go far. Remember, the first impression is everything. You need to wow them to land the interview. Make sure that your resume reflects all of the details about your skills and experience. That means well-written descriptions and specific dates. Make sure the grammar and spelling are perfect. (Read More On Canadian Resumes Here)
IMPRESS THEM IN THE INTERVIEW
If you’ve landed an interview, you’ve already beaten the odds. Don’t screw it up. Get an interview coach and ask them to do a mock interview with you. (Read Our Interview Tips Here)
